Maoming Road was where the bar culture first took off in Shanghai and for over a decade was a symbol of the city’s vibrant night life. However, more than the super charged nights, I preferred its lazy quiet afternoons, making quick after-lunch-break getaways from work.
Everything is now demolished to give way to bland and uniform residential high rise development.
